Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is the final installment of the well known and incredibly successful Harry Potter series. It’s about to be released on DVD ( just in time for Christmas) and will be a perfect partner for many of the Gudfellas range of pizzas, including my personal favourite, Gudfellas La Bottega ‘Speciale’, which seems apt for such a ‘special’ movie!
As an avid –okay, borderline obsessive- reader of the Harry Potter series, I have of course followed the movies from the beginning. I have always enjoyed them, and luckily for me, I found the finale to be the best movie yet. It was a perfect end to an enchanting franchise.
The story focuses on the three protagonists Harry, Ron and Hermione, and their search to find and destroy the last of Voldemort’s horcruxes, as this is the only way Harry can truly defeat the Dark Lord once and for all.
I personally thought almost everything about this movie was brilliant. The acting, the directing, the music, the effects. The plot and script stuck very much to the original book, and while some movie critics may count this as a flaw, as a diehard Potter fan I was more than happy for Yates to do this.
The movie is captivating the entire way through, but the most emotional scenes were, for me, when we discover if Professor Snape really is good or evil, and during the final battle scene and the aftermath. You would be extremely hard pushed not to shed a tear by the end of the film.
All good things must come to an end, and luckily this final chapter does the Harry Potter legacy proud.
